Jachh began with a grandmother's sewing machine in Gujarat, a family in the textile trade and a four-year-old who never stopped dressing up. Today it is a small label making limited, considered pieces for people who already know what suits them.
Jachh
जच · Hindi, verb: to suit; to look and feel right on someone.
The name was not decided in a boardroom. Twinkle's masi, an astrologer, said the label should open with one of three sounds: Cha, Chha or Ja. Her sister asked the obvious question: why not all three? A little rearranging of phonetics later, JACHH existed.
It helped that the word was never ours to invent. Jachh is what you say when something looks exactly right on someone. A compliment people have been paying each other in front of mirrors long before we put it on a label. We simply gave it an identity.
“Yeh tumpe jach raha hai.”
Raised in a Sindhi business family in Gujarat, trained in Ahmedabad and London, and started on her own at twenty-two.
01 · The family roots
Amma stitched custom gowns, Nana traded textiles and mom had an eye for fashion. Twinkle's first runway was at four years old, in a gown her grandmother made. Clothing was less a career plan than the family business.
02 · The training
Formal fashion study at INIFD Ahmedabad, styling in London, pageants, and a Best Designer award at her graduate jury. Then years spent styling artists and consulting for brands, obsessing over construction, fabric and fit.
03 · The turning point
When a work contract ended without warning, the choice made itself: why keep building someone else's dream? She launched Jachh at twenty-two with a notebook of sketches and an inherited instinct for trade.
04 · The rule
Bold or minimal, summer or winter: the label refuses seasonal boxes and produces in small, numbered quantities, because clothes should belong to the person wearing them.
“I don't think you should have to fit into an outfit. The outfit should fit into your world.”
Three short reels from Twinkle: how the name happened, where the clothes come from, and why the label exists.
We produce in limited quantities instead of mass runs. Enough for the people who want it, never so much that it stops feeling considered.
Every piece is cut to be worn, not just photographed. If it does not move with you, it does not make the drop.
Bold or minimal, experimental or effortless. We design for people and their lives, not for a calendar.
